Leftovers from lunch! A bit of protein and fat to top up on ketogenic foods.
Well, this wasn’t on my list for the trip! All that caked mud from riding muddy tracks that were the result of sediment lifted in the flooding. I have no means of cleaning and hope some puddles might do the trick.
The chain links are seizing up. I have wiped off as much mud as i can and attempting to free it all up with more oil( left). It worked.
Rheinfall at Schaffhausen. The biggest height drop on the navigable Rhine, claimed to be the biggest in Europe, preventing upstream navigation for cargo boats.
More slippery mud on the cycle track. Inflatable flood defences are in place.
The covered bridge to Stam am Rhein. Once a thriving port serving the Untersee and Bodensee, it’s wealth now comes from the tourist industry.
A gilded and elegant town square.
One of many detailed external murals from the merchants’ buildings in the old town centre.
Multiple cycle signage. We are taking number 6 to the right.
Traditional punts moored on the bank outside Schaffhausen
My first glimpse of Untersee, leading to Konstanz and the end of the Eastern leg of the trip. Tomorrow, I will be heading south towards the Alps and St. Moritz.
A tranquil Bodensee in the pleasant evening sky at Konstanz.
I was tired today and getting the glucose down was a challenge. Not responding well to insulin today, same diet, activity and everything else.
